Oikos, in greco significa casa, nella duplice accezione di luogo abitato e di cerchia. Un posto fisico, ma anche degli affetti e delle passioni: un posto in cui si definisce l’identità, individuale e di gruppo, e si crea l’appartenenza.
Non a caso, il soggetto delle ricerche e dell’impegno di questo gruppo è la comunità, intesa come forma di aggregazione naturale (la famiglia) e spontanea (partiti, sindacati e associazioni) che diventa il corpo intermedio tra l’individuo e la nazione.

Alle attività del Centro, di cui è segretaria l’avvocata cosentina Iolanda Cuomo, partecipano settanta esponenti del mondo accademico, italiano e internazionale, che tenteranno di rispondere alle seguenti domande: perché è così facile, in politica, invocare spesso la sovranità dell’Io e idealizzare acriticamente Loro (o gli Altri) ma riesce così difficile riconoscersi nel Noi? È ancora possibile, nell’era della globalizzazione, dialogare con mondi altri, apprezzandone le differenze di linguaggio e mentalità ma astraendosi dal Noi nazionale? Si può parlare di un progressivo declino della sfera del Noi, perché disdegnata, rimossa o biasimata, nel mondo moderno e contemporaneo?
